Well, phpShell works for me and MediaWiki's maintenance scripts don't
seem to care about the apparent web request.

hi,
i have already tried phpshell, but as it not exactly a shell, mediawiki
still thinks the request comes from the web. so the maintenance scripts
do
not function. regarding the location, it will be
very difficult to find
a
good host in India.
thanks for the help.
