I take "main" to refer to the production SQL servers; the master and whatever slaves we happen to have right now (and Domas would know all about them better than I).
I'd venture that if we are going to start offering an API etc. then we are going to need the hardware to back it up, so requesting a few servers dedicated for this sort of task isn't as arrogant as it might appear. :)
