How is "reasonably modern" any more explanatory than "modern"?
Admittedly, I was being slightly over-the-top with the "who and why?",
but I still think the label as it stands is complete non-information.
That's not to say, by the way, that the rendering principles and rules
involved are in any way questionable - their existence is a highly
creditable achievement. It's just the way they are then presented to
the user as preferences that needs 'tightening up', so that full use
can be made of the features.
"moderate" is a level which should be a default if we didn't have to
support
very old browsers. Unless you *know* that your browser is very old, it should
work well with "moderate" level.
"liberal" mode, on the other hand, will often look ugly, no matter what browser
you use.
