Kosta recently filed an RFC about a way for browser tests (and Mocha tests) to trigger different configurations on the backend: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T267928.

This kind of mechanism would give end-to-end tests a way to easily test different setups, but also to mock out unnecessary parts of the backend, load fixtures, or protect against the influence of extensions.

We will be discussing the proposal next Wednesday, November 25, at 22:00 UTC (2pm EST, 23:00 CET). As always, the meeting will take place in #wikimedia-office channel on Freenode.

If you are interested, please join, or comment on the ticket.
