> Gwicke is working on a new design
Nice.
Color constrasts can improve. Black on orange and light green on white
are bad choices.
Also green tabs are not spaced equally on MSIE 6.

After another query bogged down the database for five minutes I have
disabled sysop SQL queries again. Please do not re-enable them until the
feature which is supposed to kill long queries is fixed.

Erik
On en, the file of Image:Margueritevalois.jpg is missing. I remember
there was a problem with missing images before, but what's the status of
that? Is the image really missing? Does anyone have a list of all the
missing images?

I've checked in changes to skin/parser/output/stylesheets to rework the
"printable version". Instead of a separate rendering, printable mode
simply invokes the printable stylesheet.
Why's this good? Mainly because you don't need to click the "printable
version" link at all anymore! Just print the regular page view from
your browser, and it'll pick up the linked print stylesheet to remove
unnecessary UI elements, flatten wikilinks into plain text, and expand
embedded URL in external links.
The "printable version" link is still there, and it'll invoke the print
stylesheet for on-screen view as well if you feel like it. It otherwise
shouldn't change rendering; if we ever get the parser cache finished...
I've tested it successfully with Mozilla 1.7b, Opera 7.23/Win, Safari
1.2.1, and IE/Mac 5.2, and it mostly works with IE/Win 6.0 (see below).
There are a couple outstanding problems:
* In IE/Win, links in colored or underlined text will incorrectly
appear as plain black, since IE/Win doesn't understand the 'inherit'
value.
* The page title is not shown in Nostalgia skin printable view.
* Part of the footer is duplicated in the output and will be visible as
such in a styleless user agent (lynx, really old Netscape, etc).
* Some render options aren't totally handled right for printable, such
as ? brokenlinks.

I have commited META keyword generation to CVS. They are generated from
both the good and broken links for each page. The maximum number of
keywords generated is 10 now.
Just letting you know,
Magnus
I've taken these addresses out of the list of squids to purge on page
update:
168.143.185.151 - larousse in San Diego, now offline
217.172.186.123 - ??, doesn't respond on port 80

Hello,
Space left on db server :
[shaihulud@suda data]$ df -h
-Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda2 66G 58G 4.2G 94% /
/dev/sda1 99M 15M 80M 16% /boot
none 2.0G 0 2.0G 0% /dev/shm
As you see, we'll have soon a problem in few months or few weeks. Brion enabled gzip compression on old for en, but now it's not enough. I took a look at french wikipedia, it's growing at around 100 Mo per week.... And it's only the fourth wikipedia, en, de and ja must grow faster...
Our actual server is too small, and the system disk is too slow. We cant enable full search cause of this poor disks speed. Proc are idle most of time.
If Geoffrin is not back very soon, I would like to think about getting a new server quickly now, every day we must move old binlogs to other servers.
And It will be nice to get a server with a faster disk system, thinking about a raid10, as geoffrin, but with 15000 rpm disks this time. With a such db server, we could be quiet for some months, maybe some years :)
My 2 cents
I have installed the latest release candidate according to the automatic install
instructions, and the setup appears to have at least partially failed.
After the configuration process, I moved the local settings file to main wiki
directory as specified (http://www.mindvector.dreamhost.com/wiki/), and followed
the link from the configuration screen. Instead of the wiki as expected, I
recieved a 404 error in IE. Using Mozilla I went to the wiki directory, and
found that http://www.mindvector.dreamhost.com/wiki/ was redirected to
http://www.mindvector.dreamhost.com/wiki/index.php/Wiki/index.php and the
message "No input file specified." is displayed.
So the Wiki is there?, but somehow is confused as to exactly where 'there' is it
appears.

Hello.
Just wondering what's Geoffrin's status :)
Can't wait to get full text search back ^.^
Also, when will the 'real' fr.wiktionary (or other languages :)) be available?

Hello,
This my first post to wikitech-l (yay!), and a presumptuous one at that. I
recently had an idea, and have written an written a short (the frame of
reference being the Magna Carta) article describing it at
http://meta.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnutella (for confusion’s sake, the content
of the article will not be recounted here). While I have no problem
developing this myself, I was wondering if anybody has any objections - or,
better yet, suggestions or cash - they'd like to contribute in advance.
