Hello,

To clarify, an RFC process has been done as per requirements, and followed the official process.
There has been a discussion, an IRC meeting, a discussion in Tech Comm, an approval from DBAs, a last call announcement, and, eventually, an approval by the Technical Committee as per procedure.

For more details, see:
* Tech Comm placing this RfC under "Last call" ending 5 September 2pm PST (21:00 UTC, 23:00 CET) https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Technical_Committee/Minutes/2018-08-29

Thanks,

Moriel

Given this was not fully considered before applying the change, the
safest way forward is to revert the change and open an RfC to list all
the considerations you mention *before* applying it again.
