Hello everyone!
This is a friendly final call to remind you that registrations for the
Wikimedia Northwestern European Hackathon 2026 will officially close next
Sunday, February 1, 2026.
⏳ If you’ve been meaning to sign up for this intensive two-day gathering in
Arnhem, Netherlands, now is the time to head over to the project page at
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_Northwestern_Europe_2026
and get your application in.
🇳🇱 Taking place on March 13 and 14 at the Rozet cultural center, this
event is designed as a grassroots unconference for experienced Wikimedians,
developers, and technical contributors from across the region.
💻 It’s a fantastic opportunity to collaborate on technical projects, share
skills in an informal setting, and prep for the International Hackathon in
Milan later this year.
🤝 Since capacity is limited to roughly 100 participants to keep the
atmosphere focused and productive, the organizers will be reviewing
applications based on technical experience and regional focus. 🚀
We can't wait to see what kind of innovative tools and connections emerge
from our time together in Arnhem! ✨
Cheers!

Hello everyone,
We’re happy to announce that General Registration
<https://pretix.eu/wikimedia/Hackathon-2026/> for the 2026 Wikimedia
Hackathon <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2026> is
officially open! The Hackathon will be taking place in person from May 1 -
3, 2026 in Milan, Italy.
The Wikimedia Hackathon is an annual event that brings together the global
technical community to connect, hack, and explore new ideas. Experienced
technical contributors from all around the world come together to improve
the technological infrastructure and software that powers and benefits the
Wikimedia projects. The 2026 event is being organized by the Wikimedia
Foundation in collaboration with local Wikimedia affiliate, Wikimedia
Italia (WMIT) <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Italia>.
During the Hackathon, we will focus on bringing together people who have
already contributed to the many technical aspects of Mediawiki and our
Wikimedia projects, those who know how to find their way around on our
technical ecosystem, and who are able to work or collaborate on projects
rather autonomously.
We'll be livestreaming the Hackathon opening ceremony and closing showcase
for those unable to attend in person. Local and global communities are also
welcome to organize pre-hackathon events or related meetups.
To register for the hackathon: Everyone who attends the event in person is
required to register in advance. Registration must be done through Pretix
<https://pretix.eu/wikimedia/Hackathon-2026/>, by selecting “General
Registration”. This year we are charging a $2 USD registration fee to
minimize the large volume of spam received in previous years. If you have
any issues or concerns with the payment, please contact the organizing
team.
You can reach the organizing team through email at hackathon(a)wikimedia.org
or comment on the talk page
<https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Wikimedia_Hackathon_2026&a…>.
All participants will adhere to the Code of Conduct
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Code_of_Conduct> for Wikimedia technical
spaces and the Friendly Space Policy
<https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Policy:Friendly_space_policy>.
We hope to see you in May!
