Hello Everyone,
I am Aarti K. Dwivedi, and have been accepted into the Google Summer of Code 2013 for the project 'Refactoring of Proofread Page Extension'. You can find the accepted proposal here http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Rtdwivedi#GSoC_2013_Proposal . I am a 2nd year undergraduate at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
We will be doing some improvements in Proofread Page extension and will try to integrate it with Visual Editor. If you find any problems with the extension please file a bug on bugzilla and assign it to me. I am looking forward to your suggestions and feedback.
Cheers, Aarti K. Dwivedi
Hi Aarti, welcome!
I'm very, very excited for your project: I think that the VisualEditor in ns Page is probably one of the top priority for Wikisource to reach its potential, and being easy and simple to new readers and contributors. I'll forward your message to the it.source VIllage Pump, to make the community aware of your project. Maybe others can do the same thing: the more feedback, the better.
Looking forward to see magic happen :-)
Aubrey
I share Aubrey's excitation. Please consider, if you can, some draft - but expandible and highy customable - spelling checker. :-)
Normal spelling checkers help, but ancient texts need something different, since we search for fidelity to originals.

Hi,
A spellchecker would be a really nice feature to have. I will try to make it highly customable.
Cheers, Aarti

I wrote a very-very simple extension for integrating spelling checkers. It does very little at this point, but can serve as a foundation. Here it is: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SpellingApi
