I acknowledge the volunteers in the stall supporting to disseminate information as well as available materials to the visitors and also request for more participation for volunteering in the stall.

Dear All,

As I had shared with your in my earlier email, we have few volunteers ready for tomorrow's (and rest 4 day) of SoftTech 2014, which will run till Sept 14, 2014. There they will be sharing about the Nepali(s) Wikipedia, distributing  brochure of the Nepali Wikipedia, and bookmarks and recording those who might be interested to learn more about Nepali Wikipedia in later sessions. They will also be showcasing the videos prepared by Wikimedia Nepal team and other wiki-videos.  Please do suggest if there are some other good resource, we can showcase to the audience in the SoftTech 2014.

As the SoftTech 2014 will be running for entire 4 days and more than 2,50,000 people are expected to visit the SoftTech this year, we hope this number of volunteers will be very less in number, so other Wikipedian friends who could make it to some part of the SoftTech for talking about Wikipedia to the visitors, please do share your interest and do call us for preparing your exhibitor pass/ permit for SoftTech.

Biplav ji, Saroj ji, Nabin ji and WLM team, is there is any special initiatives that we would like to take up during the SoftTech so that we can interact with larger audience and encourage them to contribute to the WLM itself. If necessary, I will can also ask for hosting a special talk-presentation session in the auditorium which is happening as a side event of the SoftTech 2014.  Can  you also kindly share the Brochure and other printing materials related to WLM 2014, so that we can print and showcase during the SoftTech.

Looking forward to see maximum number of participation from the community!

With kind regards

Hempal Shrestha

Dear All,

As some of you might already updated and engaged with/ about various discussions going on in different forums of IT and Open Ecosystems about upcoming programs/events in Nepal. I would like to seek the opinion of the Community on following upcoming programs where we can present, build technical capacity, advocate and raise awareness about Nepalese Wikipedia, and our ongoing Wiki Loves Monuments.

Following are the three upcoming IT programs in Nepal, and I hope, if we have sufficient lead/volunteers and human resources for these days, we can request and get space for showcasing Nepalese Wikipedia the work and raising awareness and or enhance user base.

1. The first program is CAN SoftTech from September 11-14, 2014 ( Thursday -Sunday). Its going to be held in Brikuti Mandap. Free and Open Source Community have been allocated a stall A-37, where we can distribute the Wikipedia/WLM brochures and leaflets along with presenting the videos that we have produced on Nepali Wikipedia. Please do share if some of us can lead/ volunteer for this event from Nepali Wikipedians. And use this space to talk and interact with a large audience about Wikipedia and/or ongoing Wiki Loves Monuments competition. As the exhibitors will need special Pass/Entrance ID card for CAN SoftTech, please do suggest your name ASAP.

2. The Second program is National Science Day September 17-18, 2014 (Wednesday and Thursday). The program is going to be organized at the BP Planitorium, TU, Kirtipur, which is going to be inaugurated by Prime Minster on 17th. The Science Day is being by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, GoN and I am one the member of the organizing committee. There are many communities coming up for showcasing the work in IT, science and technology being developed, innovated in Nepal. If we have sufficient number of volunteers for this program as well, I hope I will be able to request for one independent stall for Nepalese Wikipedia. Please do share if some of us might be able to take out two days and volunteer for this program.

3. The third and final (to this email list) of event is upcoming Software Freedom Day. The SFD is to be celebrated on September 20th (Saturday). Unlike last year, this year the FOSS Nepal Community is planning to host the program with facilitating a platform for discussion and interaction with and among various Open Communities as has been in the top of discussion agenda since last Open Data Day program.  Please do share if there is any activities that we as Nepali Wikipedians can propose for this SFD celebration this year.

Apologies for the long email,

With kind regards,
