Dear Wikipedia Library Community,
As part of the vibrant Wikipedia Library project community, you have a unique opportunity to contribute to Wikimania 2025, happening in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 6-9 (with a pre-conference on August 5). This year marks the 20th anniversary of Wikimania, and our theme— Wikimania@20: Inclusivity. Impact. Sustainability —sets the stage for meaningful collaboration and exchange.
We invite you to submit a conference program proposal by March 31. Your ideas are welcome and valued.
Proposals can be presented in various formats:
● Remote presentations from the comfort of your home or workplace.
● Pre-recorded sessions to share at the conference.
● Onsite presentations in Nairobi, Kenya.
To help spark ideas, here are a few topics that may align with the conference theme:
● Sessions on diversifying Wikipedia editors or making access to reliable sources more equitable across regions.
● Case studies showcasing how professionals have transformed research practices in their communities using Wikipedia.
● Discussions on building long-term partnerships between Wikimedia projects, online references, partner online libraries for resource-sharing and outreach.
Visit the Program Submission Site at https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2025:Program to submit your proposal.
Additionally, feel free to reach out to us at wikimania(a)wikimedia.org for suggestions, comments, or special requests—our enthusiastic team of volunteers is here to assist you.
Let’s work together to make Wikipedia Library an open, collaborative research hub that empowers communities worldwide!
Warm regards,
Butch Bustria
