I can see from all the email threads that this is a hot topic, and I don't mean to add to it. But I am wondering if there is any effort put in to verifying the accuracy of public-submitted articles.

Every reader is verifying our content every time they read some choose to make their verification useful by amending any errors, others make the verification useful by slamming us publicly (which causes the error to be fixed instantly), and a few others keep their results to themselves. :)

Not only that, but to clear up a possible misunderstanding, *every* article is public-submitted, and every verifier is "the public", too. Some of us just have chosen to register under a unique name rather than go by IP address.

There is a fact-checking drive on en:, but it's not hugely popular. If we can encourage referencing as a habit, it should make fact-checking easier.
