I could think of several solutions to this problem:
* Remove the [[Middle Earth/]] part (e.g. [[Elrond]] instead
of [[Middle Earth/Elrond]]. But this would not only
add fictional content to the generally real-world
encyclopedia but also confuse the readers (think about
[[USS Enterprise]]!)
How bad would this be? Is it really a problem to have fictional
contents in main entries? Aren't there already entries on [[Moses]],
[[Zeus]], [[Big Bang]], and [[Phlogiston theory]]? Is any harm done?
The article text would provide the context for the word: "In the books
by [[JRR Tolkien]], the fictional character Elrond is described as..."
Is there anything else in the universe named Elrond? Do we have an
ambiguity conflict here (like Java - island, coffee, or programming
language)?
