It appears the below post did not get through at the time it was posted or maybe it was posted to the wrong mailing list (another reason it might be a good idea to have Wikipedia-legal-l(a)wikipedia.org as a legal issue specific list). I might have thought it was more a general Wikipedia question than a Wikien-l question and posted it there. I also generally agree with Imran's statement of the most recent post on the English Wikipedia list concerning this topic (reproduced below) but would like more information before deciding how to present it to them. It appears that their claim to the name is weak and pl.wikipedia.org has already made inroads in Polish speaking communities for use of the name as a distinguishing "mark" associated it with other Wikimedia projects. Knowing when they started using the name (hopefully after the date that the Polish Wikipedia was started) will help to convince them that they have little or no claim to the name. Server status

(I'm not sure my previous message made it through at the right time, so here's again with some updates:) All wikis should be up and running, as [now!] should the mailing lists. Jason unfortunately had some trouble getting the database server to power up with the new motherboard installed, and it's late (after 3:30 am) so he's going to try again tomorrow. In the meantime, we're at least running on two servers again. Yay! To add insult to injury, our new backup mailserver in Germany suffered some sort of network outage just in time not to be able to pick up any mail while pliny was offline. :P A portion of incoming traffic* to www.wikipedia.org will be redirected to en2.wikipedia.org, which is running on pliny, while logins and stuff should go to en.wikipedia.org, on larousse. Cleaner, transparent load balancing will be set up in the future when the server configuration is a little more stable. *chopped up by first letter of article name -- brion vibber (brion @ pobox.com)

Server status

All wikis should be up and running, as should the mailing lists. Upgrades in progress

Larousse is back up (with its old motherboard until it gets fixed up), and very shortly Jason will be making upgrades to pliny, which hopefully will solve its crashes-all-the-time problem.
