That's a great thing to do :)
I just thought that if this site has ready scans maybe it can minimize the effort although it needs to be checked which books are out of copyright there.

I'm making list of books whose author died < 1950, so that we can get
it in public domain, however, I'm verifying that book is not
copyrighted with publishers (which is common case in Gujarati).
