Many will already be aware of the new maps available on the wiki - Wikimedia Maps [1] which are created using data from the crowdsourced map data project - OpenStreetMap [2] that opens up possibilities like truly multiingual open maps [3] and geovisualizations [4] on the wiki.
The OpenStreetMap mapping community in Asia is organizing a conference in Bengaluru next week - State of the Map Asia [5] at the beautiful Indian Institute of Management Bangalore campus on the weekend of Nov 17-18.
Participants includes scholarships recipients from the region sharing their stories of using the crowdsource map project for various initiatives and is highly relevant to Wikimedians interested in maps, data, visualizations, civic activism, street photographs.
There will be quite a few Wikimedians attending and there is a session on Wikimedia Maps by Naveen Francis. There will be plenty of opportunities to have BoFs on the overlap between Wikimedia and OpenStreetMap communities in Asia.
