Dear Wikimedians,
Malayalam Wikimedia community is conducting the 4th edition of
WikiSangamOtsavam (Wikimedia Annual Festival) on 19th and 20th December,
2015 at Kozhikode. After Kollam, Alappuzha and Kannur, this year we are
meeting in Kozhikode, the historic city (where Vasco da Gama landed with
his fleet, the first ever successful attempt in finding a sea route around
Africa).
The program is scheduled to align with the 14th birthday of Malayalam
Wikipedia which falls on Dec 21st. We expect to host some 50 Wikipedians
from around Kerala, as well as 100+new WP aspirants, students and teaching
community.
Taking advantage of a viral and symbiotic digital phenomena now occurring
at Kozhikode under the lead ership of a young and extremely popular
District Collector N. Prasanth, eminent personalities of the city are now
contemplating to start 'Kozhipedia', a digital ecology along the lines of
MediaWiki software, to involve common public in the administration and
welfare of the district. We, at Malayalam Wikimedia community, are looking
forward to join and work together with this team. Particular sessions on
this aspect will be part of the festival.
The Sangamotsavam-2015 will also include workshops, poster exhibitions,
hackathons, story telling, photo-walkathon, editathons, OSM surveys,
biodiversity expeditions and definitely a lot of fun too.
