I think this should go into separate wiki. Generally,
companies (i don't
know about wikimedia's practices here) use the concept of 'written language'
to keep the site integrity. For example, 'zh-Hant' (Traditional Chinese in
predominant in Taiwan) will be in a separate site from 'zh' (Simplified
chinese predominantly in mainland china). There are many examples for this,
'sr-Latn' and 'sr' would be another one. Similarly, we would need
'ml' (same
as ml-Mlym), 'ml-Arab', 'ml-Syrc' etc.
A not about this: Wikimedia keeps language variants together into a
single wikipedia. For eg, visit
sr.wikipedia.org, you can see sr-Latin
is same wiki and provides a link to choose language variant. These
wikis often use machine transliteration of content across variants.
Same applies for Traditional, chinese wikis.
