Your suggestion is sensible and has more clarity than the brouhaha here. If it were placed this simple, I would not have ventured to write this much. The only downside here is that, in new systems without a straight forward font, user would be forced to select one, in order to display the content correctly. May be, some pop up with jquery may aid the interactive font selection, in such a case.
