Hi Friends

I had been working on various projects using Google Transliteration API and it seems Google will be terminating it in 2014.

I like to know if there are any open source projects (script) available for Indian language transliteration which we can start using in our applications.

One of the sites we use it is www.Akshrangal.com

Also on www.SocialPulse.com we use it as well as our iphone app 'iPublisher' http://itunes.apple.com/app/id445665567?mt=8

Hope to hear from you

Thank you

the Transliterate API has been deprecated. While it continues to function for the time being, and Google has committed to using "commercially reasonable efforts" to keep in running until May 2014, there is no active development being done on the API. Further, per the deprecation policy, Google reserves the right to discontinue the service at any time, with or without notice, if they deem unilaterally deem it unreasonable to continue supporting it. No replacement service has been announced. See the warning at the top of the docs:

http://code.google.com/apis/language/transliterate/overview.html

And the blog post announcing the deprecation:

http://googlecode.blogspot.com/2011/05/spring-cleaning-for-some-of-ou...

Additionally, per the TOS, section 1.1, there are no terms to legally access the RESTful endpoints directly from any program (e.g., Android app) except via the Javascript wrapper:

http://code.google.com/apis/language/transliterate/terms.html

Note, in particular, this statement:

"The API does not provide You with the ability to access, and you are not allowed to access, other underlying Google Services or data."
