Sorry, mail was accidental send too early.

Yes, I will be at the pre-conference in Berlin. I especially like to learn about reporting, measuring, evaluation, grants, design and visualisation.

A pity, I am looking for having a good example, using it on site myself and having the possibility to have direct questions to be sure I understand the tool properly.

> There are videos and presentations available on the page that Marcel linked to. We would also be happy to meet up and answer any questions you have.

Okay, I will look at those next week. At this point I am looking for a general introduction, then being able to continue myself, as well as I can help others with questions here locally in Belgium (and beyond) with the questions they have. I try to get the Cohorts used again in full depth so I know what questions to ask in Berlin, but I must say it often works easier in participating in a workshop with hands on trying and asking.

Concerning Quarry, I am not sure what I should use it for. I see it gives a list of uploaders and file names and dates, based on a certain category. In general handy to know for other purposes, but I am not sure where I should use it in the context of the cohorts?

Thanks all for the links and information!

Greetings,
Romaine

Not seen it yet I think, will have a more detailed look next week after my presentation on a conference coming Monday.

Coming Saturday I have a new event, an edit-a-thon about the GenderGap in Brussels. After it I will try this reporting link.

That would be handy to have. I notice in BaGLAMa or GLAMorous (overview) that one of these tools do have the possibility of checking how much an image is used. Maybe based on to dates in time it possible to see the difference and then knowing how much images are added?

> Will you be attending the preconference?

Yes,

I must conclude that with all the pages and sites, I lost the overview.

Thanks for the question Romaine. Will you be attending the preconference? If so, we will have tools rotations (15-30 minute trainings), but we won't be going in deep into the Wikimetrics. There are videos and presentations available on the page that Marcel linked to. We would also be happy to meet up and answer any questions you have.

As for images in categories, you can use glamorous (currently not loading) in Toollabs to gather number of images in a category and how many times those images are use in wikimedia projects.

Finally, Quarry is the place to go for anything else. this query: http://quarry.wmflabs.org/query/939, will give you a timestamp about when users upload a photo, so you can attribute it to a certain event, as long as the event has a category. To use, log-in, create a new query, and copy and paste this query into the new one, modify the category.

Hope this helps!

Hi Romaine,

I'm cc'ing Amanda Bittaker from the Programs, Capacity & Learning team as she may know more about Wikimetrics training opportunities and Berlin.

Over the last several months, Amanda and the Analytics team have worked together to make Wikimetrics much easier to use for program leaders: generating a Global Metrics Report requires minimal input and configuration: https://metrics.wmflabs.org/reports/program-global-metrics .  I think this will meet most of your needs as well.

I noticed in your image of the digitization project that you had a count of images were added.  Alas, there is no easy way to get that metric at this time :-(

Hello Marcel & Kevin,

Due some illness on my side for the past weeks I had not the energy to respond earlier.

Thank you for adding the request to Phabricator. I had not realised that this is also used for Wikimetrics, I regular add tasks to Phabricator.

When I wrote my e-mail to you, I was exploring cohorts so we can use it for Wikimedia Belgium in so it will be easier to get metrics for grant reporting and more. I am also a fan of this kind of schemes: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Placa-113.png And I like to use metrics to create these as well.
I must say that I got lost at some point in the cohorts/wikimetrics system, I do not know any more where I could choose for affiliation tags, but I came across them somewhere.

As I got lost in the system and do not understand somehow what certain parts have as function or how/when they should be used, I hope to get a training in using it, perhaps with Wikimedia Conference in Berlin or to learn from someone who has experience in using it.

Thanks again for the help with my question/request!

Thanks, Kevin, for forwarding this.

Romaine, I added the tag to Wikimetrics and the wiki page.
Note that when you add any tag, it becomes public for anyone to use.

Thanks!

This sort of thing will require a programmer to make a simple change in the code, but before that happens, it needs to be prioritized over other work.

Can you give us a better sense of how you use tagging?  Do you tag all your cohorts?  How many cohorts do you have?  How does tagging make your work easier?

BTW I have cc'ed the wikimetrics mailing list as others on this list may be interested.

Best,
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Trying out metrics.wmflabs.org for Wikimedia Belgium I stumbled into a list of affiliations that is incomplete. I noticed that you are the main author of the page on MediaWiki: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Analytics/Wikimetrics/Standard_tags

Can you please add Wikimedia Belgium to the system and this page?
wm:BE-Wikimedia-Belgium

Thanks!
Romaine
