Thanks for coming on Saturday! I guess the elevator pitch could look as
follows: By learning to become a contributor to the Wikimedia projects
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_projects>, one will have the
opportunity to collaborate on an international scale, apply and internalise
scientific methodologies, and improve ones media competency.
Specifically Wikidata <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Main_Page>,
it would include: Having access to Big Data for free and leveraging its
potential to further smaller wikis of indigenous languages.
Best, Reuben

Good day
I am hoping that someone here can kindly assist me. I was at the Wikidata
conference this past Saturday, which took place at the Code for Africa
offices.
I would like to ask if someone could kindly send me a summary (in laments
terms) on what Wikidata is, and how could an organisation/individual can
benefit from being part of the initiative.
What does it mean to be an Editor and how can one join?
Thank you so much and I look forward to your response.
Kind Regards,
Zanele
