This is just to let you all know that Wikimedia South Africa is offering a limited number of full and partial scholarships for people from the Southern African Customs Union https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_African_Customs_Union area to attend Wikimania https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2023:Wikimania in Singapore this year. Wikimania will take place from 16-19 August 2023.
The *application period* for this scholarship lasts from *now until the end of day 1 July 2023* anywhere in the world. We will notify all scholarship applicants of the status of their application by 15 July 2023, this will give successful applicants one month to prepare for their trip. Thankfully all passport holders from the Southern African Customs Union area enjoy upto 30 days of visa free travel to Singapore.
If you are from South Africa and have already applied for the scholarship provided by the Wikimedia Foundation (the process which has now concluded) then you can either choose to do nothing and your old application for that scholarship will be reconsidered in this application without you having to do anything; as the Foundation has shared those applications with us already. Alternatively you can choose to apply again and the better of the two applications will be chosen. If you missed the opportunity to apply for the Wikimedia Foundation Scholarship then you now have the opportunity to apply for this one.
