Hello Ian,

To make it clear: We are private individuals talking about Wikipedia and OpenStreetMap. The logos (be they on banners that we print or netbands, stickers and pins that Bence and Delphine supplied) are only used by us to indicate where those conversations and demonstrations are taking place.

Regards,
Nic

Thanks Nic for offering the floor space, and David, Nico and Bence for
help with the logo.

Firstly, let's get someone to attend. Is anyone on this list willing to
be at a stand on Software Freedom Day at the CSIR in Pretoria?

Then, regarding the logo, let's be clear to differentiate between
Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation. Wikipedia is only one (albeit
the most well known) of the projects administered by the Wikimedia
Foundation. We would be Wikimedia South Africa, with the same design as
appears at
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikimedia_chapters_logos

The logo Bence proposed is at
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WikimediaZALogo.svg
I'd prefer it to read "South Africa" rather than "ZA" though - what do
others think?

Strictly speaking, the logos can only be used by "approved Wikimedia
Foundation partners or chapter organizations". We haven't been approved
yet, but I've emailed the provided address to ask for permission to use
the logo.
