We actually tried that approach, but it failed. Currently things are getting done, so I see it as a positive thing. Thanks for the thoughts regarding the documents.

Kind regards,

Lourie

Hallo Lourie, that's great to know. From the India process, my experience is that if we allocate responsibility (let's say, by dividing up the task of whipping the text into shape for submission to chapcom) then things happen faster and more easily. So perhaps you can collect the people willing to do some part of this work and split it up between you? Once that is done, sorting through the comments is left largely to the person doing it.

In this phase, to get the bye-laws and articles in order, it's important that decisions are made without feeling guilty, or without waiting for large scale participation - though it would be great to have it. As such, any participation that has happened thus far is great, and you (and anyone else making decisions on the final text) would only be doing everyone else a favour by taking firm, reasoned decisions.

Good wishes, and good luck on this,
Achal

Hello Achal

Currently there is some people busy working through the comments. The problem is that there are so little people doing so, so it is hard to make some of the core decisions. During the past week David made a large amount of comments. Robert also helped out with a lot of the comments. I talked just the other day with Kerryn, but it seems like she is very busy on the moment.

A lot of the discussions regarding the proposed documents happen behind the scenes, so I just wanted to let you know it is happening, even though it doesn’t look so. :)

Kind regards,

Lourie

Dear all,

This seems like a good time to take stock. We have extensive feedback (internal and external) on the proposed rules for a Wikimedia SA chapter; we have a group of individuals who have kindly offered us their time and attention as Directors of the potential chapter (thank you!)

It would seem like the right time for the group who have offered to lead this effort to decide amongst themselves and divide responsibilities going forward (since there is some time away from the chapter becoming a reality).

The first thing that needs to be done is for someone to sift through the suggestions made, see which to apply and which to reject, make the changes all around, then run them through Tobias (the primary drafter) and Kerryn one more time, and finally send on to the chapters committee on behalf of all of us in order to open up the chapter conversation.

Can those who've stepped up to the task of directing Wikimedia SA begin with this?

Cheers,
Achal
