Hello everyone,

Victor Grigas, Wikimedia's official storyteller (he makes videos on stories and editors involved in the Wikipedia project) will be coming down to Cape Town from San Francisco on the 7 April.  So of you who have attended Wikimania in the past might have met him before when he was editing editors to feature in Wikimedia's fund raising campaigns in 2011 and 2012.

He is currently looking to interview Wikipedians (both current and former) and he would like to know if you or anyone you know involved in editing Wikipedia and currently in Cape Town during April would be willing to chat with him?  He is interested in learning more about how South African editors view, use, and edit Wikipedia.  He will be in Cape Town from the 7th to the 14th of April and is looking forward to learning more about the people that edit Wikipedia in the Cape Town area and share that knowledge with everyone else.

Here is an example of an interview with an editor (in her house) which he did and was sent out in an email to 150,000 US-only donors for the valentines day holiday:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLHZUIVdPU0

He is also on the look out for a South Africa/Africa specific article that is an example of collaberation creating excellence.  For example (in Victor's words) "talking about a particular Wikipedia page that through arguing and debate and fact-checking has become a quality article. This is something that I would be particularly interested in doing."  So if you have any ideas dont hesitate to drop Victor an email.

If you are interested in being interviewed either feel free to drop me a line or contact him directly (chop out the unnecessary middle man, namely myself) at vgrigas@wikimedia.org.

Thanks,

Douglas.

P.S. I am looking forward to seeing many of the Cape Town based editors at the upcoming Special General Meeting  this Saturday.
