My fellow Wiki-Americans,

We're scheduling a special meeting at Wikimania to bring together
Wikimedians Active in Local Regions of the United States (WALRUS), to
form a strong family of local chapters throughout the country:

We'll be very glad to have you join in, and represent your bit of the old USA!

This sounds like an excellent idea, particularly given the various discussions regarding the potential role such regional families might play in the Chapters Council concept; thanks to Richard for setting it up!

(I do think, however, that we need to start thinking of a better name than "WALRUS" for our group as we move into a role with greater national and international visibility.  While a contrived acronym of this sort is entertaining in certain informal contexts, I don't think it's particularly well-suited for more formal ones, or for use in a community where the majority of a participants are not native English speakers.)

Cheers,
Kirill
