Hello everyone,
As you may have seen recently, Wikimedia UK and Demos have been working with Wikimedians to pilot an attempt at crowdsourcing a submission to the Speaker's Commission on Digital Democracy. The page is on Meta, here - https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Connecting_knowledge_to_power:_the_future_of...
I would like to know if it is possible to archive some of the content on the page. It's not just a question of copying the content from the page and placing it on a new page. I'm wondering if it is possible to archive the edit histories as well.
Any help appreciated!
Stevie
What do you want to do with it Stevie?
You can use https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Export to export pages including their edit histories. Might depend what you want to do though, a simple page move might also be fine?
Simon

The thing is, I want to keep the current URL for the ongoing work on the second theme (digital representation) but want a separate, archive page with the submission that's already been made (including history). We tried moving the content of the first theme to the bottom of the page but it just looks confusing.
Thank you,
Stevie

You could move the previous theme to a new page (moving it is probably easiest, under the ‘more’ tab to the right of ‘view history’ – perhaps to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Connecting_knowledge_to_power:_the_future_of...) but don’t create a redirect. Then just create a new page at the current URL for the new work, ideally with a link to the subpage….or something like that.
Does that work?

Thank you Simon, that's really useful. And thank you also to Harry Mitchell, who came riding to the rescue! All sorted now.
Thank you,
Stevie

Normally - do a page move to the new (archived) title, so the page history goes to that new title. Then the old title has become a redirect. So you can now edit the redirect ...
If that doesn't fit the bill, I haven't quite understood the issue.
Charles
Thank you Charles - I think that's exactly what I did with Harry and Simon's help.
Speak soon,
Stevie
