I'd say that meta is the right place for meetup

Holding it on Wikipedia might be seen as limiting it to Wikipedians.
Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I've moved the Manchester wikimeet page to meta;
it's now at:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Meetup/Manchester
Please sign up if you're interested in coming along to these meetups. :-)
The drawback of inviting non-wikimedians is that they
may not be
interested in wikimedia. So I'd suggest one should proceed with
caution there (that said I'm hoping that one of our GLAM contacts will
be at next Sunday's London meetup..
I have two answers to this. First, that I doubt those that are not interested in some way

at the wikimeet could convince the uninitiated that Wikimedia is interesting. ;-)

Just out of interest, what proportion of the WMUK

There are currently 186 people subscribed to this list, compared with ~180 WMUK members. I
doubt that there will be a one-to-one correspondence, though - although I would hope that
everyone subscribed to this list would be interested in joining WMUK (and if you're
not already a member, I'd love to hear why not...).
Thanks,
