I was about to say that just because a company name is registered, doesn't stop anyone from trading with that name... but the website associated with it is too close for comfort.
Someone online and friendly during UK office hours might want to have a look around http://www.patent.gov.uk/tm/dbase/index.htm
I hope that someone at the Foundation is appropriately protecting the various service marks of the Foundation as best they can as internationally as they can? (And yes, it is a certain irony that the information project that seeks to be free should restrict its name, but that's the best way to ensure the continued freedom and development of the information.)

By "various other wiki names" I do, of course, mean wikibooks, wikimedia, wikisource... and so on. The foundation should probably also look at registering wikimainia, if that is always going to be the name of an annual conference.

OK. I see what you mean. How about "Wikipedia" as the name of the conference and then add a year, "Wikipedia 2006". An example from a related series of events:

Intriguing that someone has trademarked Wiki for clothing (E897769) - I'm sure its a legitimate label, rather than trying to cash in/suppress any online wiki organisation from offering tshirts etc...
