Agreed. Does anyone want to make a case for a London bid, or shall we
all concentrate on Oxford now?
I am slowly catching up with this thread...
I still feel that there is a strong case for London. In particular I
favour Queen Mary College over UCL (I know both venues well since I
was on the staff of both, and also as a graduate student at Queen
Mary).
I have just phoned Queen Mary, and they only offer a large hall to
seat 280 as a standard. "The Great Hall" has seating for 600 or more,
but at the moment they cannot offer this as a standard feature of a
package (various issues). The can book for August 2010, and they
should be offer on site accommodation for all (a few minutes walk
from the lecture room). But the prices for 2010 can only be finally
fixed in 2009.
I don't recall any decisions at the London meetup, other than to
proceed with a bid.
BTW, I like the tie in with the Oxford Internet Institute.
