Any news, yet?

Thanks both. As you say, OSM work certainly does fit
within our aims and
strategy. As we have a board meeting next weekend anyway I’ve added an item
to the agenda on resources for SotM. Obviously this is likely to be in the
context of broader discussion about our resources and how we select between
fundable projects.
Cheers

NY & Scotland
We've debated before whether WMUK should be supporting projects beyond the
Wikimedia set of projects, and the answer has always been a resounding
"yes". The WMUK constitution sets its charitable objects as "for the
benefit
of the public, to promote and support the widest possible public access to,
use of and contribution to Open Content of an encyclopaedic or educational
nature or of similar utility to the general public, in particular the Open
Content supported and provided by the Wikimedia Foundation."
There's no doubt that OSM fits that bill and I hope that WMUK will find some
resources to enable the attendance of some members at the Scotland
conference.

The OpenStreetMap Foundation have taken the decision not to hold an
international "State of the Map" conference (their Wikimania) this

There will, though be a "State of the Map" in New York on 6-8 June:
http://stateofthemap.us/
and "SotM-Scotland" in October:

I wonder whether WMUK have thought about offering support for the
later, and making expenses available to allow chapter members to
attend, in order to foster greater inter-project collaboration?
