It is true that London is not the entire UK. When I suggested getting together again in January, it was a short notice thing for people in London involved with Wikipedia. I was not suggesting an UK meetup or anything along those lines. It turned out that people were interested in my suggestion of a monthly meeting and James F. and others have taken over organizing the meetups since I left London a while ago.

Just because people are organising meetups in London doesn't meen the same people have to organize meetups anywhere else or even consider the needs of people outside London. Instead, it might inspire people to start regular meetups in their own hometown - and it really isn't that much work :)

The northern ones generally involve people travelling significant
distances, which makes regular ones less likely. I would be interested
in more on occasion, though. I'm away from the north for the summer,
but I might try and organise one for October. I may attend one of the
London ones before then if I can.
