I have searched other london based universities and
there are non that have
the main room capacity of 500 we are looking
for. Ill expand my search to universities in cities with a major airport.
I understand London may be out of the question at this time, but Guy's
campus at King's College London is one option to consider.
King's College London has a room with 450 seating capacity called the
Greenwood Lecture Theatre (
). The building
contains foyer, dressing rooms, a bar, and would be well suited for a
main conference room.
On the same campus (Guy's campus at London Bridge), are many new
lecture theatres of different sizes. In the New Hunt's House building
(completed in 2004 and quite modern, and WiFi-covered) is a 340-seat
theatre, and a 190-seat theatre opposite. In the same building are
several seminar rooms with 50 capacity. In other buildings on the
campus there is a 20-seat boardroom, a 35-seat boardroom, and a
100-seat (or 180 standing) function room.
There are a list of conference room hire prices at
. The rooms listed here, except those under the title "Franklin
Wilkins Building" and "Strand campus" heading, are at the Guy's
I believe the entire site is WiFi-covered, and KCL does provide AV
rates too: http://www.kcl.ac.uk/about/structure/admin/facser/conbro/rates/av.html
KCL can also provide accommodation, the prices are here:
. I am unsure what capacities are at the various Halls.
I am not sure if there is still any interest for London, or whether
London could be cheap enough to host Wikimania, but here are some
possibilities to think about. I'd like to get involved (with either
Wikimania or Wikimedia UK), and I'll try to keep my eye out for jobs
need doing on this list.
