Many thanks for this Katie.

I just wanted to follow up with a personal note to say that we would be really keen for members of the Wikimedia community to stand for the trustee elections (regardless of professional experience), and I would be very happy to have a quick chat with anyone interested who would like to know more about what board membership involves, and the election process.

All best
Lucy

Hi all

We sent an email to members about board recruitment for this year's AGM. The deadline to apply to be a Wikimedia UK trustee is this Friday 24th at 11:59pm. Here's the copy of the email that went to the membership:

Notice of Wikimedia UK’s Annual General Meeting

Saturday 9th July 2022 online

The next AGM for Wikimedia UK will be held on Saturday 9th July. As a member of the charity this is an important opportunity for you to have your say about how we work, influence how we are run and potentially stand for the board, so we would encourage you to attend. Please put the date in your diary and sign up here.

The AGM will run from 10am-12:30pm. The draft agenda is online here.

Invitation for candidates for election to the Board

There are three trustee vacancies at this year’s AGM, with one existing trustee standing for re-election. Any member who meets the criteria has the right to stand, although we are particularly keen to hear from potential candidates with experience in accounting, external relations, charity governance or the cultural sector. Understanding and experience of the Wikimedia community is also very beneficial, although not essential for every board member.

If you wish to stand please follow the procedure here and submit your application to the teller – Katie Crampton at tellers@wikimedia.org.uk – no later than Friday 24th June. Please do feel free to get in touch if you would like to arrange an information discussion about joining the board with our Chief Executive, Lucy Crompton-Reid.

Voting Papers

All current members of the charity will be sent AGM papers by email, including voting papers and proxy forms. We would encourage you to make use of your voting rights, whether or not you are able to join the meeting itself. Voting on the day will take place online via a secure system. If you can’t attend and want to vote in advance of the meeting, the deadline is Thursday 7th July at 11am.  Full details of how to submit a proxy vote will be included in your voting pack.

If you have changed your email in the last year or would prefer us to use a different email address to contact you on, please do email membership@wikimedia.org.uk with any updates by Friday 24th June. You can also use this email to contact us if you haven't received your voting papers by Monday 4th July.

Annual Report and Accounts

The draft annual report and accounts for 2021/22 are in the process of being signed off by the board and the Auditors. All members will receive a link to online versions of the Annual Report and Strategic Report prior to the AGM.

We would love to see as many of our members, volunteers and other stakeholders as possible online for our AGM on 9th July, so please sign up below! [https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/wikimedia-uks-2022-agm-tickets-348700531677]

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best wishes
Katie
