Dear all,

I am writing to invite you to join us at the launch event for our NEW Map of Scottish Witchcraft and History of Witchcraft in Edinburgh walking tour. This launch event will celebrate 5 years of hard work from various student interns on Version 2 of the Wikidata Interactive Map of Scottish Witchcraft and the new walking tour created in collaboration with Curious Edinburgh. It will end with a Q&A with myself, Wikidata Data Visualisation intern Ruby Imrie and Professor Julian Goodare about the projects.

Where? Lecture Theatre 2.35, Edinburgh Futures Institute, The University of Edinburgh - 1 Lauriston Place Edinburgh EH3 9EF. The lecture theatre is on the second floor, on the day we will have arrows in order to help direct you.

When? 15:00-17:00

Schedule:

3:00 pm – 3:05pm: Welcome from Ewan McAndrew, Wikimedian in Residence.
3:05 pm - 3:25pm: 'In Search of Scotland's accused witches' - Professor Julian Goodare, lecturer in Scottish history at the University of Edinburgh.
3:25 pm - 3:40pm: History of Witchcraft walking tour of locations in Edinburgh connected to the Scottish witch trials - Ellie Whitehead, MScR student researcher at the University of Edinburgh and author of Satans Invisible World Discovered: The defence of the supernatural in seventeenth-century Scotland’
3.40 pm - 4pm: 'Map of Accused Witches of Scotland v2.0: exploring the witchcraft prosecutions in space AND time' - Ruby Imrie, Comp Science graduate from the University of Edinburgh.
4:00pm – 4:30pm: Q&A with all the speakers.
4:30 pm – 5pm: Tea and coffee and general mingling/discussion.
5pm: Thanks and event close.
