Caríssimos,
Este assunto já tem vários dias mas, por lapso, não foi para a lista.
Resumo: devíamos designar 2 elementos para representar a WMP na
Wikimedia Chapter Conference em Berlim, tal como o ano passado.
Eu já me candidatei.
Atentamente,

Olá povo,
Urge decidir quem vai para Berlim (isto se alguém for obviamente).

Dear Chapters,
three weeks ago I have send the invitation to the 2011
Wikimedia Conference to this list and asked for three things:
1. Decide on and register the two representatives for you
chapter. We need this information to book hotels, apply for
visas, organize food and so on. So it is crucial that we have
this information early on.
2. Voice your opinion wether or not you think that we should
have the Developer Days together with the Chapters Meeting or
not.
3. Apply for the job of the Wikimedia Conference Program
planner.
Until today, just 4 people have registered for the event; no
opinion about the Developer Days have been voiced and I
received four applications for the Program manager position.
On this list, I can not find a single response to the
invitation, whatsoever.
I understand that the end of the year is a busy period, the
fundraiser in full swing, budget planning for 2011 underway,
and the 10th anniversary is coming up as well. But, people: We
need to get this thing started, and we need to start it now.
Cheers,
Pavel Richter

Dear Chapters,
Dear Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation,
In the name of the Board of Wikimedia Deutschland, it is my
pleasure to
invite you all again to Berlin for the annual Wikimedia
Conference, which
will be held from 25. March 2011 to 27. March 2011.
I am looking forward to a great conference, with exciting
topics, great
opportunities to exchange knowledge and know-how between
chapters and to
mingle with the members of the Board of Trustees and staff
from the
Wikimedia Foundation.
As in previous years, two representatives of each chapter can
(and should)
attend the conference. This gives each chapter the opportunity
to
participate in a lot of workshops and meetings in parallel,
while the
overall group-size does not get too big. Chapters who cannot
afford the
costs of travel have the opportunity to apply for travel
grants.
I would ask each chapter to nominate the two representatives
and then have
them register to the conference, using the following link:
http://de.amiando.com/wmcon11chap.html (please use the code
chap2011berlin
to enter the site). *Please do not register to the conference
using this
form if you are not the official representative of your
chapter!* The
registration form is open from today until 15. January 2011.
Because we need
to arrange for visas, travel, accommodation, food and so on,
we need to
confirm all participants no later than the 15. January 2011.
As in 2010, Nicole Ebber from Wikimedia Deutschland will be
the project
manager in charge, so do not hesitate to contact her
(nicole.ebber(a)wikimedia.de). She will post regular updates to
this list as
well.
There are two things that are still not decided yet:
1. In the past, it was very helpful to have someone with deep
knowledge of
the chapter environment as a program coordinator. In 2009,
Guillaume filled
this role and in 2010 it was Lodewijk. We are again looking
for someone who
can coordinate with the chapters, communicates with them,
helps them
organizing their attendance, and so on. This is not the "on
the ground"
planning in Berlin, but to coordinate the scheduling and the
program of the
conference with all other chapters.
I am looking for someone available as soon as possible, who
can fill this
position on a part-time basis. If you are interested in this
job or know
someone, please contact me directly. The position is not based
in Berlin,
and it is paid for by Wikimedia Germany. Candidates need a
*very* good
understanding of Wikimedia Chapters, *very* good
organizational skills and
he or she speaks English fluently.
2. In previous years, we had, together with the chapters
meeting, a meet-up
of developers as well. The idea was to give both chapter
representatives and
developers the opportunity to exchange ideas freely. We are
more than happy
to do this again this year, but I would like to get your input
on this
first: Does it make sense to combine developer meeting and
chapters meeting,
or is the overlap between both groups not big enough to
justify the extra
work that is needed to organize both events together?
I am looking forward to see you all in Berlin in March!
P.S.: And please add

to your watchlist, just in case...
