Hi,
I am failing to understand the arguments in this mails. Simply dont write your
name if you really dont have to. Abbas,Just make it clear that no names will be
displayed(since its the cause for all these arguments)?and that everyone is
writing their thots and therefore no one should be judgemental whatsoever after
all its a survey and everyone is entitled to their opinion!?
Oscar avoid being too harsh.Kuwa mpole.

I feel demoralized.??I started this survey so that we can see where we are doing
well and maximise on that and know where we are poor and learn from our
mistakes. However, I did not intend to point fingers of accusation at people who
are performing below average. That is why I said I will not disclose names. That
is why, in the survey, I just put a general slot for ''quality of
presentations'' rather than ''Grace's presentation'' or ''Ting's presentation''.
I fail to understand how, for instance, rating quality of presentations as 1
will mean that David made a poor presentation. It merely means that next time,
we will all collaborate beforehand and ensure that the presentations to be made
are all of the desired quality.

If you think that this is pointing fingers of accusation behind someone's back,
then I'm sorry: I was merely assuming good faith.

This survey is done online since at an AGM, not all people would attend, and
thereby it wouldn't guarantee full participation.

Critics will always be there. Now it's up to you to live in you own bubble and
pretend you don't hear them or listen to them, and react appropriately.

I think this causing more contoversy than expected, and maybe I was mistaken to
create this survey in the first place.

Hi Everyone,
>From what I have been reading,I guess I dont understand what is going on.True we
have?received?some "negative" critiscm in the past few days. And from the
continued arguments in this thread,I am inclined to think maybe our critics are
right?!

First,I dont understand the need of the Survey?I mean to what end are we doing
the survey???
I personally would suggest we have some sort of ?"AGM" where we can look back at
our success, mistakes and staff on a more "humane" grounds with the aim of
correcting and building on our success and mistakes not the "virtual" way.

Plus some questions are very subjective and touch on individuals directly
and?personally?I would rather not critic people behind there back especially in
print.......

Abbas,

You dont have too, remember the Berlin session on Volunteers? Its hard to
manage them with varied opinion and it gets even harder in the Kenyan
context.Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and perhaps my opinion was
harsh and unpopular that should not mean the whole idea is
bad..Am after-all just one in the Community and the majority matters.

All I was suggesting is to have a discussion of the same events on a
face-face basis even though thats hard but then that is one of the ways to
get "right opinion" that is from dedicated members.Am afraid again on this
but you do realize some people may give opinions that are not a true
representation of the state of affairs over the form since they are not
very much dedicated. After-all they will have little implication but if we
have a face-face meetup to discuss the above issue, even if a few
attend, those will give better opinion/critic necessary to better WMKE.
......once again this is my personal point of view and am subject to
critiscm as I am doing too.:P..... in Good Faith of course.

Hi,
in any our daily endeavors, it is quite normal to face criticism. However,
the criticism is quite healthy since it helps us discover our weaknesses. My
point - all this is quite normal and healthy and what really matters at this
point is how we are going to solve the situation at hand. So, Abbas man-up
and get this ball rolling your the one in charge. To the rest of us, the
survey is the best way at the moment to try and get to know your opinions
about the sensitive issues quickly and effectively. So lets get to business
and fill the questionnaire before our next meet-up so that we can have the
most contagious issues first on our agenda.
Regarding the 'name thing',it really doesn't matter whether you put it or
not. For those who don't feel like putting it you can as well write
"Anonymous." However, it is important for you guys to be as sincere as
possible when giving your opinions and answers as this is the current tool
put in place to collect all your opinions before we can all decide on the
best way forward. However, let us all maintain respect and integrity when
expressing ourselves. Thank you all and lets move forward for we all belong
to Wikimedia Kenya.

PS Maosa: When conducting a survey, the researcher can't avoid knowing a
little bit more regarding their respondents. however, it is their
responsibility to ensure such information is not leaked out to the general
public or any other party after the survey is done. So at this case, the one
in charge (Researcher) can know the names but has to keep it a secret to
him/herself. Looking forward to get some really response from this survey.
