Hello!

See email below as an invite to the August translation rally at translatewiki.

---------- Forwarded message ----------

Hello, dear translatewiki.net user.

This is the http://translatewiki.net e-mail newsletter for August 2012. It features news on MediaWiki localisation and changes in supported products. Thank you for supporting translatewiki.net. The success of open source software localisation relies on your continued involvement and enthusiasm. Please try and dedicate 15 minutes a week to updating and reviewing translations for your favourite project and spend a little more time this week to share in 1,000 Euro!

Translation Rally: Contribute 500 translations and share in 1,000 Euro

The first Translation Rally of 2012 may already have started. This rally is sponsored by Wikimedia Nederland, the Dutch Wikimedia chapter. We are very grateful for this wonderful support! The August 2012 translatewiki.net Translation Rally starts on 8 August 2012 22:00 UTC and will run until 18 August 2012 00:00 UTC. Check out the project page for more details.

The previous rally resulted in almost 45,000 new translations for MediaWiki, Kiwix and Wikipedia Mobile in 121 languages with 38 users sharing in the bounty. I'm sure we can do even better this time! Can you bring the site down with your translation activity? :)

Changes in supported products

Since the last newsletter, support for three new products was added, and support for many other products was updated.

New product support:

Put yourself on the map!

Translatewiki.net uses Semantic MediaWiki and Semantic Maps to put translators on the world map. Each language portal, like this one for Arabic, also contains a map with translators for that language. The same goes for pages with supported products, like that for StatusNet.

Put yourself on the maps, too!

If you are a developer of a promising Free and Open Source Software product and you are looking for a great community to localise your product, please get in touch with us! The same goes for those that wish to aid in developing the Translate extension further.

More detailed news can be found on our News page. Follow translatewiki on Twitter for the latest news.

We welcome feedback about this newsletter. Please let us know by sending a reply to this mail. We will try to accommodate your wishes.

Finally, of our 8,700 registered users, only 4,000 people are registered as translator. You may want to finish the steps that will get you the status of translatewiki.net translator and allow you to be a localisation hero!
