Guys,

The VP team will also give me confirmation of his attendance on the launch date. I should have an answer by Monday.

David.

Hi folks,

It's been a while since we last communicated. Anyway, I just wanted to update you on the progress I have managed to make:

  • Today, Grace and I visited he designer who'll create our posters and banners. He'll send me a sample before printing them. I'll share them with you when he gets back to me with the samples.
  • The Dean has advised me to remove the tea break since, from his past experience, tea-breaks tend to be too time-consuming (sometimes taking upto 45 mins before the attendants settle back again). His opinion was that it's not logical for us to waste almost an hour for tea when the actual event is only 3hours! After all, there will be a cake-cutting session inbetween which will act as a break to the attendants.
  • I also visited Google's office today and I'll let you know about their response in due course.
  • Fahamu.org is also enthusiastic to meet with us so that we can discuss plausible ways of collaboration. Unfortunately, Fahamu's Executive Director will be out of the country when Ting is in the country. We agreed to hold the meeting at a later date, nonetheless (that is, when the ED will be back in Kenya). We are expecting a representative from Fahamu at the launch.

The Chairman is booked for the following days:
Sunday, Monday 9/10th Jan 2011 -  Press interviews. I am yet to receive confirmation from Julie Gichuru and Jeff Koinange. If you guys have any contacts from KTN or any other media outlet, kindly let me know so that we could arrange for other interviews, if possible.

Tuesday, Wednesday - Still not yet booked. I hope that we'll manage to get confirmations from various universities so that Ting could give talks on these dates. Google might also schedule a meeting on one of these afternoons as well.

Thursday - Launch at Strathmore Auditorium

Friday - We shall accompany Ting to Carolina for Kibera. Ting is the one who connected me to CFK. For more info about CFK, check: http://cfk.unc.edu/index.php

Cheers,
Abbas.
