yes, you're absolutely right. Even that guy from Capital (I've forgotten his name) told us that a one-day competition might not be the best way to go. Wiki Loves Monuments, for instance ran through the month of September and had over 160,000+ photo uploads. Of course I do not anticipate that we'll get that magnitude of uploads if we run this competition for a month (since in WLM, around 20 countries participated), but it was just worth comparing a one-day competition to a one-month competition.

I personally did not contribute to the Google Doc page regarding WTN because Alex told me that Wikimedia France had agreed to fund this project. I think we need proper clarification (from Alex) onto who's funding what, because there seems to be a mis-communication here.

I'm the one who suggested the Wikimania prize since it could be easily arranged for as compared to looking for a sponsor/grant, etc. And when I suggested this prize, I did not have the one-day competition in mind.

Erm, a writing competition is quite controversial and didn't prove to retain editors in the Kiswahili Wikipedia Challenge. What makes you think it will, this time round?
