Thanks much for the offer of help, Beria. Really appreciate that.
Personally, I would agree with the sentiment that a single website
serves the purpose. We can simply lock some pages to make them
static, the rest can work like a wiki.
Are there more suggestions on this issue? Should we have two websites
(one static, based on wordpress or drupal and the other a wiki) or
should one (wiki) serve the purpose best?
Beria, at this point of time, I would say that anything is better than
the plain pages we have now. We require some standardization too, so
that we can organize information better (through categories).
I think the Wikimedia Hong Kong page (wikimedia.hk) looks great. Are
there more examples? Maybe we need some out-of-the-box thinking to
create something new. (-:

I can help redesign the wiki main page. But would help if you people say what do you want
(as if: "I would like if the main page was like WM XX wiki main page")
And I agree with Salmaan, there are no point in keep wikimedia.in and wiki.wikimedia.in
separated. but I would do the oposite (ie: redirect wiki.wikimedia.in to wikimedia.in but
with the actual content - like in wikimedia.de and wikimedia.pt. A diferent portal would
only be useful if was like wikimedia.fr one (in their case the wiki is almost not used at
all).
And talking about that: Do you people have it wikipedia.in domain? Because if a chapter
would give good use to that would be you (with the thousand languages in India). You could
do something like in wikipedia.fr (WMPT has the code, we are updating to place in our
wikipedia.pt (now a redirect to
pt.wikipedia.org).
And btw: Hello people. Salmaan invited me to be here, but if i shouldn't please say
so and i will leave.

Hi Anirudh
I brought up the issue with wikimedia.in domain earlier, why not have it redirect to the
wiki itself and add a section for blog/news on wiki. It would seem like there would be a
lot of redundancy between the two, and it would only require more work to update both
separately.
Either way, I have experience with smaller wikis and new mediawiki installations. I can
help with the wiki itself and better organize it.

Hi all,
The Wikimedia India portal has been up and running for a while now. I request the
attention of available volunteers to help us with the Wikimedia website redesign. We
mainly need help with two issues:
1. Wikimedia India wiki: The Main Page of the wiki (wiki.wikimedia.in) requires a
re-design to make it look better organized and attractive. I would appreciate if
volunteers with designing and HTML skills please support us with this request. We welcome
all contributions and inputs, and I request you to be bold and make changes as and how you
see fit.
2. Wikimedia India landing page: The wikimedia.in domain lands at a static page and the
plan is to have a wordpress or drupal based platform to support a few static pages and a
blog. Would appreciate if some volunteers helped us with this as well.
Yours sincerely,
Anirudh Bhati
