I think it's a great idea!

Alternatively, we could pool in resources with chapters / communities in regions which have minimal copyright restrictions so that they can legally host the content on their websites which will be accessible around the world.  I would suggest jurisdictions which comply with the minimum requirements of the TRIPS Convention.  I believe that would be author's life + 25 years for less developed countries and author's life + 50 years for other countries including Hong Kong.  Copyright protection for literary works in India extends to life + 60 years.

[As a sidenote: There are countries where copyright legislation is non-existent, e.g., Lao PR.  The Wikimedia Foundation may not wish that their trademarks be used to facilitate copyright infringements in other territories, therefore an endeavour in these countries could be supported by an individual or community-run with no links to the Wikimedia Foundation.]

Not for India related content, Shiju. Specifically a WikiSource server
of sorts, hosted in India, exclusively for content that is out of
copyright in India only.
