Dear Praveenp,
With all due respects to you as one of the most contributing and persistent
Wikipedian (I must say probably the staunchest of the backbones of
Malayalam Wikipedia), I must now respond here as a member of the WMIN
Executive Committee, a colleague at ml.wikipedia as well as a good friend
of both of you..
Despite whatever personal issues between you and Anivar, I can vouch that
Anivar too have been contributing to the Wikimedia causes in his own ways
for some time now. You may not see it through the number of edits or such
statistics, but his timely involvement in many events and projects have
also helped Malayalam Wikisource to stand where it is now. Apart from that,
he has been taking an active and serious interest in the Chapter's mission.
Anivar, Pavithra and DB Srinivasa Rao were selected as the Election
Committee (EleCom) via a very proper protocol by the Executive Committee. *It
was the EC who solicited their help and willingness to be members of the
Election Committee at a time when few were even willing to be members of
the chapter.* Their selection as Election Committee was done even much
before the new (restructured) EC came into form. The then EC had
unanimously passed the resolution to appoint the EleCom without any
conflicts among themselves.
As far as the Wikimedia India Chapter is concerned, our interest in
people's individual issues and relations are clearly limited to the
Chapter's affairs. As I see it, being a member of the EleCom has nothing
much to do with how one may be active or inactive in a rather unrelated
domain, as long as one delivers the performance assumed and expected of his
capacity in the right degree.
I sincerely believe that the history of piques between you and Anivar has
nothing to do with the conducting of WMIN elections in a free and fair
manner. The Chapter would rather concentrate on much more pressing tasks
for which our resources are still running bit of a short as of now.
It is embarrassing to have to respond to such messages (that should be of
interest in scope, to only the Chapter circles), at this honorable list,
being primarily an open mail list for Indian Wikimedia projects. In the
first place, that the announcement is also copied on to this list was
purely with an intention to make as many Chapter members as possible.to be
aware of the upcoming elections. Beyond that, anyone is welcome to ponder
upon further affairs at the chapter's wiki itself, with a record and
history.
I also take this opportunity to urge Praveen and others to take a more
long-standing interest in the chapter, be an active member there and get
more involved from within, so that we can have even better qualified people
to select from. It really makes a difference when you are inside the system.
May I take that this discussion is now concluded with this message.
:-)
With love to all and malice towards none,
Viswam

Was not it only an "announcement"?
I am really sorry, but I really had to disrupt such an "announcement"
because Sri Anivar uses every such announcement as an opportunity to
bypass any allegations against him, and also most of the times he
gets titles like returning officer without any real activity or
contributions. And I know because of my past experience that probably
he will do it again and agian, escaping any answering anywhere.
