Yes, it's possible that one of the moderators signed up users directly
instead of sending invites.  As long as that doesn't happen again,
we'll have to put up with it for some more time.  There is no point
having subscribers explain to us why they want to access this list
because (i) it increases the barriers to entry for this community and
(ii) it will consume a lot of the mods' time.
