Opps! I missed it. Thanks

I agree. 5000 is a big number.

Hi Bodhi,

Thanks for sharing the updates, and the program has interesting sessions.

I just feel that the eligibility threshold for instant registration is too high - 5,000 global edits is too high for instant registration. I believe it can be lowered, especially since it is an online event, and won't add too much to the costs. My reasoning is last minute registration may generally be by people who are not very involved, and may not know about the event. People from other movement-aligned groups such as Creative Commons, Mozilla or even GLAM institutions might want to attend, expecting them to have a lot of edits might not be reasonable. A lot of newcomers may also get excluded with this.

Please see if this can be reconsidered.

Best,

KC.

Hello all,

Wikimedia Wikimeet India 2021 is going to start the day after tomorrow and we have some updates for you.

  • The event will have the opening speech from Asaf Bartov, the title being "India: Looking back, looking ahead". Asaf has been observing and supporting Wikimedia efforts in India since 2009, first as a volunteer, and later as a Wikimedia Foundation grants program officer and capacity builder. In this talk, he will offer some thoughts on the Indian Wikimedia journey so far, and on the road that still lies ahead, from his perspective. Please find the entire program schedule here - https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Wikimeet_India_2021/Program
  • We closed the registration of participation yesterday. However, for the experienced WIkimedians, who have missed that deadline due to whatsoever reason, we have kept the option for instant registration at the last minute. For more details, please check here - https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Wikimeet_India_2021/Registration#Instant_registration
  • We have sent necessary details and links to join the event to all selected participants. Please check your spam folders, if you have not found our mail. For any query, please reach out to us at  wmwm@cis-india.org

Regards,

Bodhisattwa
