Hi Sudhanwa,
Phase 1 of contest is a pilot conducted to understand the dynamics of
Commons community. It has helped us refine various aspects in Phase 2.
I agree that there are certain things that could have been done better in
the pilot phase. But, as far as we know, this is the first time any one has
conducted a pilot for a photo contest. So, we do have lot of learnings from
conducting this pilot which will be documented in our upcoming progress
report.
Phase 2 progress can be tracked at
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Campaign:wlf
In the last few days, we are getting around 500+ images uploaded every day
and most of them represent the diverse cuisine of Indian sub-continent.
1560 contestants have registered so far.
Commons:Wiki_Loves_Food
<http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Food> has been viewed
128309 times in the last 30 days and we are trying various channels to
reach more people.
Based on GLAMorous tool
<https://tools.wmflabs.org/glamtools/glamorous.php?doit=1&category=Wiki+Loves+Food&use_globalusage=1&ns0=1&projects[wikipedia]=1&projects[wikimedia]=1&projects[wikisource]=1&projects[wikibooks]=1&projects[wikiquote]=1&projects[wiktionary]=1&projects[wikinews]=1&projects[wikivoyage]=1&projects[wikispecies]=1&projects[mediawiki]=1&projects[wikidata]=1&projects[wikiversity]=1>,
24.96% of uploaded images in Phase 1 are already being used in various
Wikimedia projects.
We request more volunteers to sign up at
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Food/Volunteers
to help us organize the images uploaded in Phase 2.
We will provide more stats once the contest is over.
Thanks,
Ravi
