Thanks Ravi for sharing this. This sounds like an interesting project.
Are these books coming on WikiSource as well or only digitized? It will
be great if you could share more details about the entire project and
how the Tamil Wikisource community is involved here in A) getting these
encyclopedias relicensed B) digitizing them on Wikisource.

There is some similar work undertaken by Tamil Wikipedians and we
expect official confirmation to release many volumes of encyclopedias

Some of the local FOSS activits including some Tamil Wikipedians are
engaged in a new project called

This aims to release CC licensed contemporary works that can be read
in smart phones and tablets in epub and mobi formats.
