Many thanks to User:Sodabottle for coming to Doha and to Tamil WP colleagues for their input to his presentation. It was extremely informative for the discussion of the role of translation in the plans to continue the growth of the Arabic Wikipedia.

Best,
Barry

Hi all,

Last week Arabic Wikipedians organized Arabic Wikipedia Convening (WMF Blog Report [1]) hosted by Qatar Computing Research Institute at Doha. Since the Qatar Institute was looking at options on machine / manual translation to increase articles on Arabic Wikipedia, they had invited a Tamil Wikipedia - Google translation coordinator to learn from the experiences of other communities which did a large scale project. User:Sodabottle presented on the community experiences and learnings[2].
