Hey folks,

Here's another similar story in today's Indian Express: http://www.indianexpress.com/news/to-counter-pak-india-to-launch-its-own-urdu-wiki/957849/
There was supposed to be a meeting on Monday with the director concerned, but it had to be rescheduled. We'll keep you posted on the developments after the meeting.

So the government has labeled the Urdu wikipedia as propaganda by Pakistan. It seems possible that most of the Urdu community are predominately from Pakistan and bias could have crept in to the articles. I'm curious to know what the actual status is?

Best,

This makes it clear that this is an independent encyclopaedia initiative. Wikipedia, Wiki have long become common names to indicate anything like
encyclopaedia.

Point of order:

Wiki is a generic name.  Wikipedia is not.  It is a registered trademark.  Using it as a common/genericized term would be incorrect, and is something that we fight regularly, legally.  :)
