Dear Abhinav and EC,
Good to see the chapter reach out and put together a formal document outlining the Advisory panel they need. I went through it.
My view is that the exercise would be effective for you if the EC calls out what skills they are short on and the kind of advise they need? Are there any goals they seek to achieve that they need help with? Are the specific challenges the team is having difficulty surmounting?
Calling out these out would help volunteers for the advisory board assess and reflect if they can fulfill that role suitably/effectively.
It is not the pedigree of the panel member alone but what time they can make and what expertise of theirs is helpful for the chapter. Also panel members need to be complementary and work well with each other.
Just sharing from my past experience working with teams and advisory boards.
Also how does the chapter intend to handle down selects if they receive more nominations than they need?
Also don't hesitate to ask for help and reach out to people who you think may add value to those role, keeping the movement and chapter's interest first.
Best wishes to the EC. Good luck on this exercise.
Warm regards
Arun
